Coach Brown, Coach Philip and Coach Roberta hope that all of you are doing well, are safe and staying healthy during this time of COVID-19.
Our Saturday Classes are sponsored by CAMBA Beacon and located at Eagle Academy IS/271. However, as this incredibly different school year begins, the resumption of afterschool programming is paused pending decisions still to be made by the Department of Education and, as it relates to our archery program, by CAMBA and The Children’s Aide Society. Once these decisions are made, we will have a better idea of what we can offer.
Our program’s number one priority has always been safety first, second and third. Rest assured, that when we are able to resume archery classes, we will do so with an abundance of caution and care for the safety and wellbeing of our archers and coaches. Stay tuned…
About our program:
These Saturday Archery Classes with Coach Larry Brown and Coach Philip are sponsored by CAMBA Beacon and held at IS 271/Eagle Academy.
The Saturday classes are structured to introduce students to archery and to support skills development. Eight session cycles will be offered to 15 beginning archers. The smaller class and concentrated time allows for more focused attention to the fundamentals of archery. Advanced students meet later on Saturday with a continued focus on honing their skills.
Some advanced students do become Center Shot Archers but this is not an automatic thing. It only happens as a result of the archer’s
- commitment to archery and to being a world class archer
- diligent effort (this includes school, home and community)
- hard work
- consistent practice outside of the Saturday class
- participation in local and national tournaments
- and in the best of worlds…strong family support.
would love to get information to register for the fall program
Hi Terry. Thanks for your interest. You can come to class on the first day, meet the Coach and complete an application to register with CAMBA Beacon all on the same day.
Can’t wait to join back in with Saturday classes!!!
Hello, I have 10 girl scouts between 11 and 17 that are interested in an archery lessonsome time in april or may. We are based oUT of canarsie brooklyn and meet on Friday evenings. And some Saturday and Sunday afternoons
Hi Nicole. Thank you for your email and commitment to working with young girls. I have a lot of respect for the girl scouts. One of our archers is also very active in girl scouts. I think it would be best for you with or without your girls to come to the Saturday class at IS 271 between 10:30 and 4 and speak with Coach Brown about the possibility of your girls joining our Saturday program or the possibility to him coming to you on another day to provide lessons. I look forward to meeting you. Be well. Roberta
When do I come by to register?
Hi Hector. We don’t have a start date yet. It is usually a week or two after school starts. I’ll post as soon as I have a date. Be well.
